Space, the final frontier
So, follow-up from an earlier post, shade_42 and I have (hopefully) finalized on our bet.

Here it is, re-posted, and somewhat revised from shade's journal:

The Wager

Due Date: Thursday, October 31, 2024.
Requirement: A functioning space elevator has been erected somewhere on Earth, on or before the above due date.

Additional Conditions and Payment

i. The loser agrees to pay a return trip for both party members on an agreed upon trip into space, as deemed most appropriate by both members. Should the cost of such a trip still be prohibative, or if payment would result in financial or other hardship for either member, an alternative as discussed in section iii may be chosen instead.

ii. Appropriateness of the trip will be based on cost, launch location, environmental impact, health of the members and other factors that may come into play as time goes on. The trip must be agreed on by both members. Should an agreement not be possible, then an alternative listed in section iii must be chosen.

iii. Suggested alternatives in case the primary payment can not be met include:

* Attending a launch of the DaVinci Project, or similar Canadian space launch endeavor.
* The purchase of a fine bottle of Scotch to be shared with the understanding that whenever we drink from it, the winner can shamelessly exercise his bragging rights.
* Other payments that are agreed upon at any later date by both party members.
